In the very back lay Rivertown which paid tribute to Cincinnati’s riverside location, including a train station under the name Losantiville, which was the original name for Cincinnati. Going towards the back of the park, the Coney Mall section would look back on the traditional atmosphere the defunct Coney Island offered. Starting from the left, thing would start out with German themes with Oktoberfest, featuring a beer garden. Intamin came through with its observation tower designs to create a one-third scale replica of Paris’ Eiffel Tower. International Street needed its anchor though. A giant fountain was to welcome guests who entered. The building illusion of forced perspective was utilized to make it look as if buildings were twice as tall as they were. The central area was based around the streets of Europe with architecture to match the motif to become International Street. However, there would be differentiation between the Ohio park and Disney as Taft lacked the finances to set up the grand marvel Walt Disney created. A central area with various shops and restaurants anchored by a central symbol with surrounding areas of distinct themes was the set up. The idea of the park was based around the highly successful Disneyland which opened twenty years prior in Anaheim, California. With the area known as Kings Mills and borrowing a bit from Coney Island, the park would ultimately be known as Kings Island. The owners wanted to pay tribute to both the community which housed the park and Coney Island. As ground was broken in 1970, a park name was in the works. Then as word got around of how the new interstate highway system was set up, a plot of land aside the newly built Interstate 71 just 20 miles north of downtown Cincinnati was chosen to be the grounds of the new park. Many sites throughout southern Ohio, northern Kentucky and western Indiana were surveyed for the relocation, but to no avail. ![]() After Taft Broadcasting bought the park in 1968 for its last three years, owners decided to move shop. However, with the riverside location, the park was prone to flooding, a common sight along the mighty Ohio River. ![]() Until 1971, the park was the place to go during the summer. Throughout the early 1900’s, the riverside park was home to many attractions for all ages, from Sunlight Pool on hotter days, to the twin duo of Shooting Star and Wildcat for the adventurous, and Moonlight Gardens for some mature evening festivities. In southwest Ohio around Cincinnati, Coney Island ruled the summertime in drawing the biggest crowds for top notch entertainment. Ohio has been the setting of many great amusement parks and rides throughout the industry’s history. Kings Island is the second most visited seasonal theme park in North America, behind Canada's Wonderland. The park is owned by Cedar Fair, and was originally part of the Paramount Parks chain that Cedar Fair acquired from CBS Corporation in 2006. Kings Island is a theme park located in Mason, Ohio. Lastly, I'm using the imacPro SMBIOS for this hack as I have found that the regular iMac SMBIOS's (18,1, 18,3 etc) don't allow Resolve to use hardware acceleration for video processing (namely rendering to h265 on the card). I'm not sure if I somehow got a 4K card or if the original Intensity Pro is actually the same hardware as the 4K and it simply needs a firmware update? After doing this, it shows up as an Intensity Pro 4K card. This card works fine when booted into Windows 10 and used in the same way with Davinci Resolve.Īlso, when I first tried the card in Windows, after I installed the Desktop Video software, it prompted me to upgrade the "Intensity Pro 4K". If I disable the Intensity Pro card in the play back settings before the beach ball, it doesn't hang and works normally (but obviously with no output to the Intensity Pro). The Intensity Pro card is recognized by Desktop Video and I can set it for playback in Davinci Resolve but, within about 20 seconds of opening a project, I get a beach ball that doesn't go away. I'm having trouble with it working on a haswell era hack running Mojave with an RX570. In fact, the sync issues I had with running the card on the Mac Pro, seem to be gone. I've seen several posts about the Intensity Pro card, and I thought I would provide this note to anyone struggling with it. Nowhere in their specs do they include compatibility with first gen Intensity Pro cards. My son, actually, downloaded a file called "Desktop Video 10.6.4". ![]() Then I built my Hackintosh (i7 4970k, Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 5, GTX 960) and I wanted to see if i could get the card working as I have a ton of video to transcode. Blackmagic would not respond to any of my requests for help. And there was no longer updated explicitly named "Intensity Pro" drivers it seemed. Yes, the Intensity Pro drivers stopped working on Mavericks on up. This isn't exactly a Hackintosh fix post but if anyone was struggling with getting their Intensity Pro card working with El Capitan on either their old MacPro or Hackintosh the solution was easier than anticipated and the culprit was Blackmagic's lousy website. Standardized tests lead to big bucks for companies.Lack of trust of teachers leading to a need for “accountability”.In regards to standardized testing Regie feels that there are two larger issues at hand: While listening to a student read I observe and jot down anecdotal notes about how their reading sounds valuing all of the dimensions of fluency. they can falsely inflate the number of students in need of support.they under-value other important dimensions of fluency such as intonation, reading the punctuation marks, and reading in meaningful phrases.they send the message that reading is about speed not meaning.they do not value meaningful comments made by the child or productive problem-solving, multiple attempts (perseverance). Some major flaws with timed reading passages are: ![]() They measure the speed of the reading and neglect all other areas of fluency. ![]() Timed reading passages are supposed to be a measure of fluency but let me be clear- they are not. ![]() To take a closer look at how students are able to use their letter-sound knowledge and problem solve unknown words, I find that taking a running record while the student reads an authentic text to be very useful. I will say that I want all of the interactions children have with text to be meaningful. I am not going to go into the many reasons why assessing students using nonsense words is utter nonsense in this post. A dictated sentence also allows me to see what the child understands regarding concepts about print such as writing left to right, top to bottom, putting spaces between words, etc. A dictated sentence allows me to see how the child works with sounds within a more authentic task. Rather than relying solely on an assessment that times students as they attempt to quickly make letter sounds, I like to administer a dictated sentence. The following are some of the skills frequently tested on screening tools and what I do to gather more information. In order to effectively plan for intervention services, we need to use other tools to help us to dig deeper to find out more specific information about the strengths and needs of our struggling readers. Most universal screening tools are not able to give specific diagnostic information that can inform our instruction. Regie Routman, in her book Literacy Essentials: Engagement, Excellence, and Equity for All Learners, writes that information from assessments should “improve the quality of teaching and learning” (p. The idea is that when we screen all students we are able to see the impact of our instruction and identify students who are not progressing at the same rate as their on-grade level peers. Screening tools are considered an important part of Response to Intervention (RTI)/Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS). As a reading interventionist, I am required to administer a universal screening tool to kindergarten through second grade students three times per school year. ![]() ![]() Sub-pixel rendering help a little, but not nearly as much as some seem to think.
